Git config command as the name suggests is used to change git settings. By this command, we are able to change our username. It is possible for each repository, or globally for all repositories.
To set/change the username, go to the folder with the repository (root folder) and use the following command::
git config user.name "b00sti" # Set a new name git config user.name # Verify the setting b00sti
To set a username for all repositories must be used::
git config --global user.name "b00sti" # Set a new name git config --global user.name # Verify the setting b00sti
GitHub for pairing commits uses locally set email address.
The email associated with our GitHub account can be set in the same way, only instead of using the parameter user.name use user.email.
